Friday (8th Jan) saw the opening of a new Charity Link food bank provision in Groby. The food bank will run each Friday morning at Groby Village Hall. The service will primarily serve the Groby, Ratby and Markfield areas and will serve local residents with emergency food when they are found to be in crisis. (Clients will usually be referred to us by an agency, such as social services, police or faith group) and will supply food to last the individual or family for up to a week. The food bank will be run by Charity Link volunteers.
As with our main food bank, located within the Malcom Arcade in Leicester city centre (which serves people throughout the county) the Groby food bank relies on donations from local people. If you would like to donate you can drop donations of long life foods and toiletries / household cleaning products at the Co-op on Leicester Road and their Station Road store in Glenfield.
