Vision, Purpose, Beliefs and Mission
The driving force behind our work

Our vision:
Everyone, irrespective of circumstances, has the opportunity to fulfil their potential in life.
Our purpose:
To provide timely, targeted and appropriate assistance in times of crisis or hardship.
Our beliefs:
- Everyone has a right to a standard of living where they are dry, warm, clean, safe and can feed themselves
- Financial or practical support at a time of crisis or hardship can make a difference to people’s well-being, health and their future
- We’ll be most effective and efficient by working in collaboration with other organisations
Our values:
Compassion, respect, expertise, and collaboration.
Our mission:
We work across four main themes supporting people facing crisis or financial hardship:
- Access to basic needs: providing the basic needs to keep people dry, warm, clean, safe and fed by providing support with utilities, food vouchers, beds, white goods and clothing.
- Access to independence: providing mobility equipment / adaptations / visual aids ensuring people are mobile, independent and can access wider society.
- Access to education & achievement: ensuring that people are not limited in their attainment due, for example, to the lack of a school uniform, interview clothes, course fees or travel costs.
- Access to digital: we know that access to society is enabled by access to the digital world and those without can be disadvantaged or isolated. We need to develop new services to address these needs.
And we do this by:
- Finding funding for people in need– the basis of our work since 1876
- Providing a trust administration service– using our knowledge to manage funds to achieve the most social good
- Accessing and providing low-cost goods - through our trading arm, helping funds to go further so that more people can be supported
For every £10 you donate we can raise £50 from charitable trusts.
