Bree’s story
Bree has faced many significant challenges in her life, from a devastating family tragedy as a child to a life-changing accident as an adult.
Bree was only six when her father was murdered. This had a big impact on her family relationships and her childhood as a whole. She began battling mental health issues from a young age. Despite everything she was facing, Bree finished school and then got a job. She worked for many years and had a long-term relationship, but when her mental health declined, she lost what felt like everything: her job, her partner, her home. But life was about to get even harder.
Bree was riding her bike when she suffered a seizure. She fell into a car and sustained multiple fractures and a bleed on the brain. She was in hospital for some time. Since the accident, Bree has been receiving support to aid her recovery and start a new life. She has been granted a new tenancy, but after everything she’s been through, Bree is not currently able to work. She receives Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments, but whilst the tenancy is a positive opportunity to continue her physical and mental recovery, she had no way to afford the items she needed to set up a home. Bree was referred to Charity Link by her tenancy support worker. We are delighted to have been able to help Bree by providing a cooker, washing machine and fridge freezer.
