Maryann is a mother of two who was forced to flee her homeland due to political unrest. After a challenging time, Maryann was recently granted leave to remain in the UK – a moment of relief and hope for a safer and better future.
Maryann and her two children have now moved into a property, but the joy of having a roof over their head was overshadowed by the reality of it being completely unfurnished. With no beds, no furniture and no comforts, Maryann and her children were left sleeping on the cold, hard floor. Living on a very low income, relying solely on Universal Credit and Child Benefit, Maryann simply couldn’t afford the basic essentials to make their new home liveable. Maryann was able to find a few smaller household items but not the beds she desperately needed for her children.
Maryann was referred to us, and with your support, we were able to secure funding to provide the beds for her children. Now, instead of sleeping on the floor, Maryann’s children rest each night in warm, comfortable beds of their own.
These beds may seem like small items, but to Maryann and her children, after all they have been through in the past, they mean everything. They provide dignity, safety, comfort, and a chance to rebuild their lives.
