Niamh’s story

Niamh couldn’t afford to provide the bed that she and her son desperately needed.

Niamh has been struggling to make ends meet. She takes prescribed medication for a mental health illness and as she is a single parent, caring for her young son, she is unable to work. With limited benefits she has been finding it hard to manage financially as the cost of essentials continue to rise. She was desperately worried how she was going to cope as her son was outgrowing his cot but she didn’t have any money to buy a bed. She was also without a bed and had been sleeping on the floor for some time. Thanks to your support we were able to provide two single beds for the family which has made their small flat feel much more like a home. The times have also increased the family’s wellbeing and dignity.

"It’s fantastic to see all the ways the community comes together to improve the lives of people in need. From undertaking challenges, to dress-up days, quizzes, raffles and cake-bakes, to donating, setting up a regular gift, volunteering or spreading the word, it all helps to ensure people living in hardship are warm, safe and fed and have the basics in life that we all deserve."
