Sayna and her daughter were in financial hardship after they fled domestic violence

Relying on Universal Credit and Child Benefit has been a struggle, compounded by the
damp and mould issues experienced in the flat they’ve moved to, which has
caused damage to some of the few possessions they’d managed to take with
them.

Sayna and her daughter have been sleeping on the floor since leaving their
previous home and whilst Sayna has tried to save some money to buy a bed,
this was proving impossible on their low income and with cost of living
increases. The family also didn’t have a working cooker and it was hard for
Sayna and her daughter to think of a positive future whilst living without these
essential items.

Sayna was receiving support from Citizens Advice and they referred her to us
for help. Thanks to your support, we’ve now been able to provide Sayna and
her daughter with beds and a cooker. These items have made a hugely positive
impact on their health, wellbeing and dignity. They can now move forward from
their distressing past and start to feel safe and secure in their new home.

"It’s fantastic to see all the ways the community comes together to improve the lives of people in need. From undertaking challenges, to dress-up days, quizzes, raffles and cake-bakes, to donating, setting up a regular gift, volunteering or spreading the word, it all helps to ensure people living in hardship are warm, safe and fed and have the basics in life that we all deserve."
