Charity link is a registered charity (no. 1078271) which works throughout Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire to help improve the lives of local people facing hardship.
We believe that all local people deserve a decent standard of living, with a right to adequate food, shelter and the means to keep warm, clean and rested – no matter what crisis, illness, disability or difficulty they may be facing.
For those we support, including the frail elderly, the victims of domestic violence, carers, or those with a chronic illness, disability or mental health issue, their basic human needs can often go unmet.
We help by providing everyday items that the majority of us take for granted, such as clothing, a bed to sleep in, a cooker to prepare a hot meal, and, in emergencies, food. These items may not cost much, but they can make a massive difference to people’s lives, both immediately and long term. They can help restore dignity, independence, hope for the future, and enable people to fulfil their potential in life.

Your support will make a difference to so many local people and children in need each year by providing:
- Over 700 cookers so local families can have a hot meal
- Over 500 beds to those otherwise sleeping on the floor
- Over 250 families with clothing such as warm coats, shoes or school uniforms
- 100 people with vital disability equipment to help them get out and about
How we work
We use a network of local organisations that are in the community working with individuals and families in need. Using organisations already in place keeps our overheads to a minimum, increases the efficiency of our services and ensures that we get the help to those who need it when they need it most.
Once a referral is received, we act immediately. If the need is urgent we can help the same day.
Our team have an expert knowledge of the thousands of benevolent funds and charitable trusts in the UK that have money to assist people in need.
This means that for every £10 donated we can raise £50 from charitable trusts that are available to help – all of that £50 goes to those in need.
Once we have obtained the necessary funding via these benevolent funds/charitable trusts, we purchase the goods required by our client and deliver them direct. We help anyone who is in need throughout Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.
Charity Link raises approximately £800,000 annually to purchase items such as clothing (including school uniforms), cookers, beds and bedding, washing machines and cookers, fridges and freezers, medical and mobility items, emergency food vouchers.
We help people of all ages and all backgrounds who find themselves in financial need across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.
In 2015/16 we helped 7,398 local people, 38% of whom were children and young people and purchased 6,128 items, including beds, clothing and wheelchairs.
