Disappointing spring statement
Today’s Spring Statement has not brought an end to the freeze on working age benefits as many had hoped.
Read statements from Child Action Poverty and The Joseph Roundtree Foundation below for an insight on what a difference this will make to already struggling families below.
Susan McEniff, Director of Charity Link, says:
“We see on a daily basis the realities of how local families are struggling to make ends meet, including more and more working families. The benefit freeze, whilst the cost of living continues to rise, will no doubt see more and more vulnerable local people face hardship and mean that they are unable to afford the basics in life that we all deserve – such as adequate food, suitable clothing and the means to keep warm, clean and rested.”
