Katherine Sheard is an artist based in Leicestershire who specialises in using graphite pencils to bring a unique likeness to her subjects, with much of her work having an animal focus.
When Katherine learnt of Charity Link’s work she was keen to get involved, and, as her work is featured on a range of products, including luxury cards, the idea of a special fundraising card was born!
Much of Katherine’s work is drawing commissions for people, such as a much loved pet. Discussing the subject matter for our design, we came up with the idea of featuring an animal that we can spot during Charity Link’s Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge each September – the alpaca! This was perfect as Katherine had recently met a friendly local girl called Shadow – and she is now the star of our new fundraising card!
For each card sold (RRP £2.50 per card), Katherine is kindly donating at least £1.90 so – by just by purchasing this lovely card, you will be helping to provide essential items for people in need throughout Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire!
Due to Charity Link’s unique way of working (for every £5 donated we can untap £25 for local people in need) …
- Every £5 raised will help to heat a home for a week
- Every £10 raised will feed a family for a week
- Every £25 raised will buy a child a bed
- Every £50 raised will buy a cooker for a family so they can cook hot meals……

White Hill Night Shadow (Shadow for short!) was born on 2nd June 2014. She moved to live with Maggie at White Hill Farm in Markfield, Leicestershire, after her previous owners moved home and could not longer keep her and the small heard she lived with.
According to her new mum, Shadow is solid black with the biggest round eyes! She is a gentle and kind girl who likes to walk out on a halter. She is always first to eat and loves sliced carrots and apples as a treat.
Shadow was pregnant when she arrived and has had crias before (the name for baby alpacas!) and is a natural loving mum. Shadow had a new boy crias (named Moon Shadow) in September 2019. ‘Moon Shadow’ is now not so little and is loving life on the farm with his mum and gang of boys.
Thanks to Print Monkey for their support with this card.
