Readings Property Group, based on Granby Street in Leicester city centre, has been offering ongoing support to Charity Link since 2016, including supporting our annual ‘Wear a Funky Scarf Day’ in January and by organising a charity auction event in September 2016.

The group also runs an scheme whereby it donates £10 when it successfully sells a clients home. The company then invites clients to match this donation. Due to the unique way that Charity Link works (for every £10 donated we can raise £50 from charitable trusts around the UK) this could enable us to provide £100 worth of items to help local people in need.

On 5th September 2017, on International Day of Charity, Readings marked raising over £6,174 for us which is fantastic and pledged their ongoing support.

Will Ravenhill, Director at Readings, says: “We were keen to support a local charity which had a link to our business which is dealing in homes, and which we knew would make a difference in the local community in which we have worked since 1935. When we learnt of Charity Link’s work the whole team thought that there was a great connection between the two organisations and we really wanted to do something to help. We hope that our customers will support the scheme and as a team we also have lots of extra fundraising activity planned for the coming months.”

Susan McEniff, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at Charity Link, says: “Most of us would class a bed to sleep in or a cooker on which to prepare a hot meal for the family as essential items in our home. Whilst these items don’t necessary cost a vast amount, for many of the desperate people we support they are out of reach and this impacts hugely on their quality of life and feelings of self-worth. With the support of Readings and their customers we hope to help many more local people in the coming months with items that really can make the difference between living in a house and being able to create a home.”
