Leicester Charity Link Golf Day raises £4,500
A charity golf day held in aid of Leicester Charity Link has raised £4,500. The event sponsored by Flowers Associates, a recruitment consultancy based in Rothley, was held in the beautiful surroundings of Stapleford Park.
Ten teams fought it out across a challenging course, on what was a cloudy but rather chilly day. Luckily help was on hand in The Pavilion whereby all golfers could relax over a two course meal and listen to golfing tales and tribulations by guest speaker Peter McGovern, Profession Golfer at The Belfry.
It was a tightly fought contest, with Charnwood Accountants emerging as the winning team. Mark King from the Charnwood Accountants team won the Nearest the Pin competition, Russ Canfield from the F&J Furniture team won the Longest Drive competition and Steve Stone from the F&J Furniture team was crowned the most valuable player.
Sue McEniff of Leicester Charity Link said: “Everyone who attended had a wonderful day and an amazing £4,500 was raised. Due to the unique way in which we work, we will be able to convert the £4,500 raised on the day into £22,500 by accessing grants for individuals in need. All of that £22,500 will go to help local vulnerable people and children in desperate need. I would like to thank Flowers Associates, all the golfers and sponsors who ensured that the day was a great success.”
Adam Flowers, Consulting Director of Flowers Associates said “Our business is all about people and it’s great to be associated with a people focussed organisation like Charity Link. To know that we have had a hand in improving the lives’ of so many in the local community is extremely satisfying.”
