Leicester Comedy Festival night raised £1,000 for Leicester charity Link
An extra special Leicester Comedy Festival experience was held at The Almanack, Highcross and raised over £1,000 for Leicester Charity Link. 65 guests attended the sell out gig to enjoy a night of good company, great food and fantastic comedy.
Canapé style pub bites were served upon arrival then guests move into the restaurant area for their main course and dessert. A stage was set up in the bar area with theatre style seating, lights, microphone and a whole host of comedians waiting in the wings: David Morgan, Pete Smith, Ben Ennis, Harriet Dyer and Anthony King.
David Morgan, compère, ad libbed with the audience in his typical exuberant style. The gags just kept coming and coming from comedians Peter Smith, Ben Ennis and Harriet Dyer. Then Anthony King headlined the evening with his unique brand of dry wit, observational comedy and finished the night with a few songs thrown in too. A fantastic evening was had by all and the best bit, £1,000 was raised for a worthwhile cause.
Sue McEniff, Director of Marketing & Fundraising at Leicester Charity Link, said “It was a fabulous night; a big thank you to everyone who supported our comedy event, The Almanack and all the comedians who ensured that the night was a great success. Due to the unique way in which we work we can convert every £10 donated into £50 by accessing money from charitable trusts that are available to help individuals in need. Which means that we can convert the £1,000 raised on the night into £5,000 – all of which will go help many, many, local people and children in desperate need.”
