New Joseph Rowntree Foundation report counts the cost of UK poverty

We know that poverty doesn’t just impact on the individual or family directly affected, it has a negative impact on the local community and society as a whole.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has launched a new report – ‘Counting the cost of UK poverty‘:

You can also read the BBC News article on the report here .

As Julia Unwin, the foundation’s chief executive says: “Poverty wastes people’s potential, depriving our society of the skills and talents of those who have valuable contributions to make. This drags down the productivity of our economy, hinders economic growth, and reduces tax revenue.”

Charity Link’s work aims to help give people a helping hand out of poverty. Some of the items we provide may be seen as small, but, for example, providing a suitable school uniform for a child can help prevent truancy and build vital self esteem. This ultimately helps them to reach their full potential academically, leading to a more positive future. This is why your support is so important.
