Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challengers help to provide £95,000 of essential items to disadvantaged local people

16th October 2025

120 people who took on Charity Link’s Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge on Sunday 28th September have now raised over £19,000 in sponsorship. By unlocking funds from charitable trusts, this will enable the charity to provide £95,000 of essential items to local people facing hardship or crisis.

Charity Link’s annual 16-mile event follows a circular route in Charnwood, starting and finishing at Beacon Hill and taking in the peaks of Bardon Hill and Old John Tower in Bradgate Park. The Challenge was started this year by Charity Link Patron, The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Michael Kapur OBE CStJ. who walked the 16-mile route himself.

Those also taking part included teams from local businesses, individual supporters and families. Rowleys Accountants raised over £3,300 and two couples making up ‘The Packington Panthers’ raised over £2,300.

Susan McEniff, CEO of Charity Link, who has walked the Challenge every year of its ten-year history, adds:

“We are so grateful to this year’s Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challengers for their amazing efforts on the day and for raising over £19,000 to help local people in need!

“Due to our way of working, untapping funds from charitable trusts, we can turn every £10 our Challengers have raised into £50 of essential items. This means over £95,000 of essential items, including beds, clothing, cookers, and fridges will now be provided to support the most disadvantaged people in our local community, including those facing homelessness and families unable to make ends meet.”

Charity Link – a charity which marks 150 years of helping people in need in Leicester in 2026 – supports people of all ages and backgrounds who find themselves in financial hardship. This include those with a chronic illness, disability or mental health issues, those facing homelessness or fleeing domestic abuse, carers, low-income families severely impacted by the cost of living crisis and vulnerable elderly people.

Charity Link created its Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge in 2016 to help raise vital funds and the Challenge has now raised over £117,500 during its ten-year history – which equates to over £580,000 of essential items for those in need.

Charity Link’s Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge 2026 will take place on Sunday 27th September.  More details on the event can be found at
