Have you heard about The Goods Depot?!
The Goods Depot is the new trading arm of Charity Link. Based in Glenfield, Leicestershire this new social enterprise provides high quality, value for money, reconditioned white goods, including washing machines, cookers and fridges.
Prior to the launch of The Goods Depot, Charity Link had been purchasing white goods for clients via a third party. The Goods Depot was formed to provide items direct to Charity Link clients and also to the wider community and has a number of key benefits.
By supplying items direct to Charity Link clients we can:
- Maximise the benefit of charitable funds raised which will enable Charity Link to provide increased support (we can provide more appliances for the same amount of funding and therefore support more local people in need)
- Increase control over the quality of items supplied and the level of service provided
- Provide a comprehensive supply of white goods which can be responsive to the needs of Charity Link service users
- The Goods Depot will help to reduce our environmental footprint (most items are high quality reconditioned items)
The Goods Depot was also formed to help Charity Link by providing a sustainable long-term income stream – so vital in what is an ever increasingly uncertain and competitive voluntary sector environment. All profits will be gifted back to the charity so that even more essential items can be provide to those in need.
In addition to supplying Charity Link clients, going forward The Goods Depot will also be providing a high-quality retail purchase option for external organisations, local authorities, councils and individuals wishing to buy reconditioned white goods at great value.
The establishment of The Goods Depot was made possible due to a support grant from The Big Potential – a Big Lottery Fund grant programme.
