The Three Peaks Challenge Blog
Fundraising – A fun way to raise funds for a good cause!
Calling local businesses and business people! We’re embarking on a new adventure in the form of the Three Peaks Challenge and we want you to join us!
This week we have put the final touches to the event packs and posters and are pleased to say that we are now looking for 27 local businesses and business people to take part in the Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise much needed funds for local charity Leicester Charity Link.
We already have confirmed Rachel Hargrave of The Phoenix Partners, Julie Jordan-Spence of Jordan Motors and Practical Car and Van Rental, Tom Simpson of Torr Waterfield, Theresa Abbot of Bistro Live – and me! Plus we have had an enquiry from one of our lovely solicitors – Bray and Bray – for a potential three places! So who else is up for this challenge?
The Three Peaks Challenge is essentially trekking the three highest peaks in the UK – Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m), Scafell Pike (978m) in England and Snowdon (1085m) in Wales – in 24 hours or less.
The aim is for everyone who takes part to raise sponsorship money for Leicester Charity Link. Did you know that even though Leicestershire is one of the richest counties in the UK it also has one of the highest poverty rates in the UK? Leicester City Council estimates that there are 26,000 children and young people officially living in poverty – and that’s just in our city centre.
Leicester Charity Link works with people in crisis and poverty across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We help by providing everyday items that the majority of us take for granted such as; a bed to sleep in, a cooker to prepare a hot meal on and, in emergencies, food. These items may not cost much, but they can make a massive difference to people’s lives.
