Budget Response
From Charity Link CEO Susan McEniff:
“There are some positive aspects to today’s Budget, although some will take time to implement with regards to child care provision and it will be interesting to see more detail behind the employment schemes.
Many charities and organisations have been campaigning for an extension of the energy price guarantee and it is good news that this has been extended until July. However, it remains the case that whilst energy subsidiaries are welcome, utilities are still unaffordable for too many households with the average bill doubling since the start of the energy crisis. We are also pleased to see the huge issue of the poverty premium on prepayment meters finally being addressed, and that extra funds are being allocated for charities facing soaring costs.”
