Desford Divas get read to tackle the Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge

A group of 16 friends from Desford are getting ready to tackle the Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge on 23rd September to help provide food, clothing and beds for local families in need.

Led by team captain Dee Beckett, the Desford Divas have been training hard for the challenge and organising fundraising events, including a curry night for friends and family, to help reach their goal of raising £1,600 for Charity Link, and are hoping to get to £2,000.!

Dee, who lives in Desford and runs Mosaic, a company which coaches local businesses to grow and improve their performance, says: “I met some of the team at Charity Link through business networking, and was really inspired to get involved, after learning more about the charity. I not only want to raise vital funds but I also really want to increase awareness  of the fantastic work this charity undertakes as many people don’t know about Charity Link and yet it helps to improve the lives of over 5,000 people each year in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland – our very own community.“

“We have a fantastic group of ladies in the village who are passionate about our community and they were really up for this challenge when I told them about it. The support we’ve received so far has been brilliant and we are delighted to have already raised over £1,000.  We’ve been on a number of training walks together so we should be able to enjoy the challenge and finish without too many aches and pains! We are already looking forward to a well earnt glass of bubbles at the end and hope by then to have smashed our fundraising target so that Charity Link can provide even more essential items to improve the lives of local people in hardship and crisis.”
