Design a 150th Birthday Bookmark Competition for children

We are very excited to have launched our ‘Design a 150th birthday bookmark’ competition for children as part of activities to mark our milestone birthday in 2026.
Since 1876, Charity Link has been helping to improve the health, wellbeing and dignity of people in need in Leicester, offering support during the Spanish flu epidemic, two World Wars, recessions, and more recently the COVID-19 pandemic and cost of living crisis. Today, Charity Link helps over 5,000 disadvantaged individuals and families each year across Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire through the provision of essential items. A third of the people we help are children and young people.
Charity Link is encouraging children across the community to enter our bookmark competition (open until 31st January) to help mark our big birthday. There are three age categories (6 years and under, 7-10 years and 11 years and over) with prizes for the winners.
We’d love to receive lots of designs and hope to form an exhibition of entries in the spring. Winning designs will also be made into bookmarks to help raise awareness of our long history and vital work.
The competition is part of activities to mark our milestone year, with events and activities, including a Birthday Ball in June, our annual Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge in September, a birthday parachute jump and a parkrun 150 Challenge all planned. We are also asking local businesses, clubs and organisations to pledge to raise £150 during 2026.
