High Sheriff of Leicestershire to tackle Leicestershire 3 Peaks later this month

Mrs Henrietta Chubb JP, High Sheriff of Leicestershire 2023/24, is taking on the 16-mile Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge on Sunday 24th September to help raise funds for Charity Link – a local charity she has chosen to support during her year in office.

Based in Leicester city centre, Charity Link provides essential items, (including food, clothing, beds, fridges and cookers), to people in hardship and crisis. The need for its services has increased due to the impact of the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, with the charity now helping around 550 people each month.

Charity Link first organised its Leicestershire 3 Peaks Challenge in 2016. Now an annual fundraising event, challengers have so far helped to raise nearly £70,000 by taking part.  The Challenge starts and ends at Bawdon Lodge Farm in Nanpantan, in the heart of the Charnwood countryside, and takes in the Peaks of Bardon Hill (Leicestershire’s highest point), Old John in Bradgate Park and Beacon Hill. Mrs Chubb will be taking part in ‘The High Sheriff of Leicestershire’s team’, alongside husband David, her consort Helen Trower and Helen’s husband Richard..

Mrs Chubb says: “Having learnt about Charity Link’s vital work supporting people in need across Leicestershire, I am really excited to be taking part in this event to help make a difference. I’ve been on a few training walks with my team in preparation for the day and we are really looking forward to challenging ourselves to complete the 16 mile route.  The real incentive is knowing that we are taking part to support Charity Link’s work helping thousands of individuals in need across Leicestershire every year.”

Mrs Susan McEniff, CEO of Charity Link says: “We are delighted to be welcoming the High Sheriff of Leicestershire and her team to this year’s event. We already have over 100 people signed up and we are excited that they will be set off on their challenge by the Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Dr Susan Barton, who has also chosen Charity Link as her charity of the year. Charity Link Patron, Mr Michael Kapur Esq OBE, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, will also be supporting the event by helping to welcome Challengers to the finish line.”
