Saffron’s story
When a flood damaged her home and property, Saffron didn’t have the funds she needed to buy new school uniforms for her children.
Saffron is a mother, living with her two young children, surviving on a small income made up of Universal Credit and Child Benefits. Despite not having much, she managed to provide her family with the basic essentials. However, a flood in their home caused significant damage to their possessions. Furniture, clothes, personal items and the children’s essentials were ruined beyond repair, ruining Saffron’s family’s stability.
With limited resources, Saffron persevered, attempting to save what little money she could in order to replace the damaged essential items. Although, with the back-to-school season fast approaching, she would struggle to purchase the school uniforms that her children needed.
Saffron was referred to us by the Zinthiya Trust. Fortunately, due to your support, we have been able to access funds so that Saffron’s family could be provided with the school uniforms that they needed to get back on their feet before heading back to school following the flood in their home.
"It’s fantastic to see all the ways the community comes together to improve the lives of people in need. From undertaking challenges, to dress-up days, quizzes, raffles and cake-bakes, to donating, setting up a regular gift, volunteering or spreading the word, it all helps to ensure people living in hardship are warm, safe and fed and have the basics in life that we all deserve."
