Simone’s story

When Simone became a single mum to three children she struggled to make ends meet.

Simone was referred to us by a Welfare Support Officer. She is now caring for her three children on her own since her partner left the family and she has been struggling to cope with all the pressures this presents. Her eldest child has been diagnosed with ADHD, mental health issues and is often unable to sleep. She can also exhibit challenging behavior and has damaged a number of household items that have needed replacing. Although Simone works part-time to provide for her family, she struggles to make ends meet – particularly as the cost of food and utilities keep rising. She has fallen into debt on her council tax and rent and had no way to afford to replace the family’s broken cooker – causing extra stress as Simone was unable to provide healthy, hot meals.

Thanks to your support we’ve been able to help the family with a new cooker as they continue to receive assistance to make family life easier moving forward

"It’s fantastic to see all the ways the community comes together to improve the lives of people in need. From undertaking challenges, to dress-up days, quizzes, raffles and cake-bakes, to donating, setting up a regular gift, volunteering or spreading the word, it all helps to ensure people living in hardship are warm, safe and fed and have the basics in life that we all deserve."
